Until then, mould manufacturing and series production supported each other, <strong data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"755\">but<\/strong> they were not a unified market offer.<\/p><p data-start=\"560\" data-end=\"1325\">Mould trials and on-site servicing created effective cooperation. <strong data-start=\"862\" data-end=\"874\">However,<\/strong> we realised that true advantage required a full-service solution. This caused revenue loss, slower inventory turnover, <strong data-start=\"1581\" data-end=\"1593\">and even<\/strong> temporary shutdowns for many suppliers.<br data-start=\"1633\" data-end=\"1636\" \/>Therefore, we adopted a cautious inventory policy, significantly reducing safety stocks for raw materials, components, <strong data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1777\">and finished goods<\/strong>. By late 2024, this approach seemed wise.<\/p><p data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"2159\"><strong data-start=\"1822\" data-end=\"1842\">On the one hand,<\/strong> cash flow became critical in a weak economy. <strong data-start=\"1890\" data-end=\"1912\">On the other hand,<\/strong> fluctuating demand and poor forecasts made project stoppages a real threat.<br data-start=\"1988\" data-end=\"1991\" \/>We wanted to minimise risks, <strong data-start=\"2020\" data-end=\"2034\">especially<\/strong> the danger of obsolete and unused stock. <strong data-start=\"2078\" data-end=\"2090\">However,<\/strong> from the last quarter of 2024, new unexpected challenges appeared.<\/p><h2 data-start=\"2161\" data-end=\"2208\"><strong>Longer lead times, unpredictable suppliers<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"2209\" data-end=\"2747\">When projects restarted, we first relied on existing stock, <strong data-start=\"2269\" data-end=\"2281\">and then<\/strong> resumed raw material procurement.<br data-start=\"2315\" data-end=\"2318\" \/><strong data-start=\"2318\" data-end=\"2335\">Yet suddenly,<\/strong> several suppliers extended lead times without notice, from 6\u20138 weeks to even 20 weeks. They had likely adopted the same cautious inventory policy, <strong data-start=\"2485\" data-end=\"2493\">thus<\/strong> pushing their risks back to customers. By early 2025, it was clear that safety stock restructuring was unavoidable.<br data-start=\"2611\" data-end=\"2614\" \/>The longer lead times forced us to plan for higher stock levels once again.<br data-start=\"2689\" data-end=\"2692\" \/><strong data-start=\"2692\" data-end=\"2709\">Nevertheless,<\/strong> the difficulties did not end there.<\/p><h2 data-start=\"2749\" data-end=\"2798\"><strong>Critical supplier failure \u2013 how we responded<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"2799\" data-end=\"3138\">One supplier could not meet the already extended 20-week lead time because of a serious machine breakdown.<br data-start=\"2905\" data-end=\"2908\" \/><strong data-start=\"2908\" data-end=\"2925\">Consequently,<\/strong> our production schedule was immediately affected, creating a bottleneck that risked customer deliveries.<br data-start=\"3030\" data-end=\"3033\" \/>Our safety stock covered the original 20 weeks, <strong data-start=\"3081\" data-end=\"3088\">but<\/strong> the additional weeks were impossible to absorb.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-a0441f3 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"a0441f3\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-1da794d\" data-id=\"1da794d\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-475853f elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"475853f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"307\" src=\"https:\/\/test.novanow.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/solution-1024x307.png\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-3961\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.novanow.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/solution-1024x307.png 1024w, https:\/\/test.novanow.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/solution-300x90.png 300w, https:\/\/test.novanow.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/solution-768x230.png 768w, https:\/\/test.novanow.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/solution-1536x461.png 1536w, https:\/\/test.novanow.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/solution-2048x614.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-72c30f3 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"72c30f3\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-fe22938\" data-id=\"fe22938\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-85c0ab5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"85c0ab5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>Our response included three steps:<\/strong><\/h2><ul><li>We arranged express delivery at our own cost, later reclaiming expenses from the supplier.<\/li><li>We organised extra production shifts to process delayed components quickly.<\/li><li>We shipped express deliveries to customers across Europe to avoid production line stops.<\/li><\/ul><h2><strong>Key takeaways<\/strong><\/h2><p>The beginning of 2025 proved once more that procurement and logistics are not only operational.<br \/>They are strategic, business-critical functions for every SME in the automotive supply chain.<br \/>Success now requires flexibility, fast responses, proactive inventory management, and strong supplier collaboration.<br \/>And often, it demands a greater willingness to accept risks than in the past.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Procurement &amp;
